 Flatiron Writer's Retreat January 2018

Flatiron Writer's Retreat January 2018

Here's what's going on:

October 2018: The Flatiron Writers Room held their first annual Agent Panel and Pitch Slam was a success! Asheville area writers got to meet and pitch to four NYC literary agents.

April 2018: I'm enjoying a much needed residency at The Virginia Center for Creative Arts. The time and space to work, as well as meeting this community of artists is incredible. So grateful.

Looking forward to the 2018 AWP Conference in Tampa, March 7-10! I'll be there with some of my fellow Flatirons. Hope to see you there!

January 2018: A few of us Flatirons got away for a few nights for a writing retreat in Georgia. A much needed creative get-away for all.

I'm thrilled to be one of the recipients of a 2018 Regional Artist Program Grant. The grant will pay for my expenses to travel and attend the AWP Conference in Tampa this March. Sponsors of this grant are The Toe River Arts Council, Madison Arts Council, Asheville Area Arts Council, and with support from Avery County and the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.

I'll be a Fellow at The Virginia Center for Creative Arts this spring! Looking forward to my residency in spring 2018.

My year long residency as the inaugural Ramsey Library Community Author is coming to the close at the end of 2017. It's been a fantastic experience spending time on campus and having a private space to write. I'll be doing a reading on campus in December. Check out my events page.

Come on out 11/19/17 for The Writers at Home Series.  I had the privilege of being asked to write the Editor's Choice Column for the 2017 fall issue of The Great Smokies Review. I'll be introducing the two writers that I chose for the column, one poet and one prose writer, at The Writers at Home series at Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe, Sunday 11/19/17.
